NGC6946 is a face-on Spiral Galaxy in the constellation Cepheus.  It is 22.5 Mly distant with an apparent
magnitude of 9.6 and apparent dimensions of 11.5 x 9.8 arcmin.  In the past century over 9 supernova have
been observed in it's spiral arms, making it the most prolific known galaxy for such phenomenon.
