M87 is a supergaint elliptical galaxy located in the constellation of Virgo.  It is the largest and
brightest of the northern Virgo cluster of galaxies and is 55 million LY from Earth.  M87 spans
120,000 LY and has a mass of several trillion suns.  It has an active nucleus which is ejecting a 
spectacular jet of material 7000 LY long.  This jet is seen in the above image at the 11:00 position.
